Congenital microophthalmia

Congenital microphthalmia syndrome (narrow palpebral fissure syndrome) : refers to the narrow width of palpebral fissure than normal, with hereditary eyelid congenital anomaly, the more general because of eyelid skin, ligament strain, multiple simultaneous left and right sides.

Congenital microophthalmia can be combined in the following situations:

1. Dwarfism;

2. Small eyeball or no eyeball;

3. Ptosis of upper eyelid and inner pepe;

4. The medial canthus shifts to the temporal side;

5. Half face atrophy.

Among them, congenital eye disease combined with inner canthus and ptosis are the most common.

The appearance and life of children's face have a great influence on the appearance and life of children. After the birth of the child, the two eyes are wide, the eyes are small, and there is a serious inner canthus, the bridge of the nose is flat, the face is not god, but the misdiagnosis is the internal strabismus. Gradually, as the nasal bone develops, the situation may improve. Therefore, it is not appropriate to have plastic surgery too early, which is generally appropriate in preschool. Simple eye disease can be performed simultaneously to correct the canthus or open fissure, such as the combination of the upper eyelid ptosis should be in 6-12 months after the ptosis correction.

In the case of the obvious medial canthal spacing, severe internal canthus and ptosis of the upper eyelid, combined surgical correction is the best operative method. It not only corrects the inner canthus, but also corrects the width of the inner canthus. The disadvantage is that the post-operative scar should not be obvious after a year.
